Introspection (NAT Art Residence - 05/2024)
During my time of residency, I felt excited and nervous. I truly wasn't aware of anything about the locations, friends, and schedule. It was odd. Then I went to the location panicking with excitement. But then during the first few days, I got to learn about my co-artists and what they did and lived for. I learned about their different paths for art and why they were enamored by it. I felt that I was a part of them as they were for me even from their wide range of experience, age, and intelligence. Going to the caves was magical but they were not the main cause it was the people who went with me that added the magic to the experience. Longing and community that I have been wishing for a long time. What also added to my experience is family. When I lost my father family and friends that I met on the way gave me a sense of community that was lacking from any experience that I had ever had. It reminded me of when I saw a family of sheep running down a slope together during the art residency. It was a connection of fulfilment that I felt from the feeling of longing that left me feeling a lack of something. Thus, this was the main importance to me as it had a big impact. In each artwork, there is a form of fullness that can be shown in circles and movement.
